Two Days Visit to Doñana from El Rocío

This excursion offers travelers the opportunity to visit in depth the whole Doñana natural space.

Doñana is the jewel of nature of Andalusia, with an area of ​​150,000 hectares comprising both the National Park and the Natural Park. For two days we will entirely known all the park ecosystems.

We will divide the excursion into two days. During this time, visitors will enjoy the northern and southern area, together with the village of El Rocío, in a relaxed way on foot, on horseback and in a 4×4 vehicle. We will start from el Rocio where we will pass the night.

The first day of this tour will begin at 11:00am with a horse ride through the Village of El Rocío. On this two-hour tour we will feel the special atmosphere of this village that reaches a million people during the pilgrimage. We will visit the chapel and see the famous marshlands where thousands of waterbirds are concentrated throughout the year. Then we will have free time for lunch.

In the afternoon we will enjoy a 4×4 vehicle tour of the northern area. We will leave from El Rocío to enter the northern area of ​​Doñana, former lands of the royal hunting ground, and we will access to Coto del Rey.The tour will last approximately 3.5 hours and visitors are always accompanied by a local driver guide.

In the area we can enjoy a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Mount, where most mammals and prey birds live. Also we will see the marshes of the northern area and the Palace of the King . We will return to the Rocío at nightfall, where our accommodation is. You can dine at one of the restaurants that our guide will recommend.

Next morning, by dawn, we will take the breakfast included and we will go to the Acebuche visitor center. There will start a route through the southern area in a 4×4 truck.

In this journey of 75 kilometers, we will visit the largest of virgin beaches in Spain and the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, in front of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. There we will enter the forest of the southern area to pass next to the Marismillas Palace and see the marsh and the vera, the ecosystem where the Coto and the wetland meet. After this tour, we will cross the famous mobile dunes as if it were the Sahara desert. We will know the peculiar corrals and return to the beach.
